The University of Florida Men's Soccer Club is the oldest collegiate soccer club in the nation. After coaching the University of North Carolina Soccer Team from 1950-53, Alan C. Moore founded the UF Men's Soccer Club in 1953. Coach Moore, who was a University of Florida faculty member at the time, envisioned a club team that would be competitive enough to play other universities and colleges.
A.C. Moore coached the team from 1953 to 1990 to undefeated seasons in: 1953, 1956, 1957, 1959 & 1961 and his overall record was:
503 Won 220 Lost & 109 Tied.
"AC" founded the Agin-Gators Soccer Society (AGSS) in 1983 as the Alumni organization of UFSC and served as its Director until April 2005 when he cited lack of confidence in his computer skills. Jason Coker (2002) took the helm of the AGSS as President with Jeremy McBryan (1998) as VP & Chris Lipp (2002) as Treasurer. Every Spring, members of the AGSS and their families return to Gainesville from many states & sometimes countries to share memories, play the current UFSC team and interact with the past and present club members in a grand weekend!
The annual UFSC v. Agin' Gators soccer match is quite intense and every year the teams play at the same level (with the help of some one-sided referees and friends of Coach Moore). The weekend is a great chance for current club officers and members to learn about the past experiences of UF Soccer Club Alumni.
